A resolution is an act of will. A decision or declaration to do or not do something. One must be determined, purpose-driven, and committed to “doing”. An example would be goal setting or making a new years resolution to stop smoking or lose weight.
An intention, on the other hand, is defined as a directed thought to perform a determined action. An example could be a person’s desire to live a high vibrational life or be a vision of health. One can use imagination and/or visualization to set the intent, thus “allowing” the manifestation. By design, the human energy system is electromagnetically wired to follow intention. Therefore, you may want to revisit your old belief systems around writing down your yearly goals or declaring a New Year resolution and consider setting intentions instead.
Everything manifested on the physical plane has to be created on the energetic/mental plane first. Then the thought or idea must travel down the vertical current of manifestation from the upper chakras down to the first chakra and be grounded into Mother Earth during the present time in order to materialize. Furthermore, it is suggested that to enhance the intention or affirmation, one benefits by eliciting a positive emotional state or focusing on the feeling of the desired outcome as if it has already occurred.
Simply stated, your intentions, thoughts, and emotions will directly impact your quantum field. This means you cause your biochemistry to change thus affecting your cellular response. Visualization, imagination, and imagery can be a creative force behind your deliberate decision to create. Creativity is good, so play around with your visualization. Remember that your brain does not know the difference between what is imagined versus real.
